Our involvement in protecting the environment
Environmental stewardship is a central focus of our business philosophy. We strive to make sound business decisions that are energy efficient and environmentally friendly. Dedication to protecting the environment is critical for our company, our employees, the communities where we live and work and for future generations.
We received the Clean Green Certification from Textile Rental Services Association (TRSA). This certification is the sustainability standard for laundering facilities and acknowledges businesses that have demonstrated a responsible commitment to sustainability and conservation.
To monitor energy and resource conservation, we participate in the Laundry Environmental Stewardship Program (LaundryESP). Laundry ESP is a voluntary environmental pollution prevention program that focuses on recycling, reuse, and efficient use of water, energy and chemicals. Laundry ESP encourages new and innovative approaches and practices, and reflects the textile industry’s commitment to be at the forefront of environmental stewardship.
At Northwest Health Care Linen, we strive to be environmentally sound in the following ways:
- Recycling clean wash water back into the wash process
- Our washers use 75% less water than conventional washing machines
- Computerized systems inject only the proper amount of cleansing chemicals into wash cycles
- Heat is reclaimed from wastewater to heat incoming water, reducing energy
- We recycle all plastic soiled linen bags, reducing our solid waste stream by 85%
- Utilizing reusable products over disposable items, where applicable
